Two Temporary General Hatchery Laborers
Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association is recruiting for two Temporary General Hatchery Laborer positions at the Burnett Inlet Hatchery. This facility is a remote salmon hatchery located on Etolin Island, approx. 30 air miles from Wrangell. The position will begin mid-July and last until the end of October.
The primary duties of this position are to assist permanent staff in the collection, and incubation of up to 100 million chum salmon eggs. Incumbents will be expected to work in a cold, wet, dark environment and must be able to repeatedly lift at least 50lbs. The ideal candidate must have the ability to develop healthy working relationships with co-workers while living at a remote facility with limited outside access. Applicants will be required to pass a background check.
Starting wage begins at 13.60/hr and includes housing and groceries. Incumbents are required to live on-site in a shared bunkhouse environment. Weekly mail/grocery flights are provided, and free wifi. There are also ample fishing/hunting/wildlife viewing opportunities as time allows.
