Job Announcement: Lead Maintenance Technicians, Ketchikan, AK (Permanent)

Lead Maintenance Technician – Ketchikan, Alaska

The Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (SSRAA) is seeking two skilled and motivated Lead Maintenance Technicians to join our Facilities & Infrastructure Department in Ketchikan, Alaska. SSRAA operates seven salmon hatcheries and several remote release sites throughout southern Southeast Alaska, with facilities ranging from road-accessible hatcheries to remote sites reached only by boat or small aircraft.

This is not your typical maintenance job. Lead Maintenance Technicians perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance, repair, construction, and improvement projects across SSRAA facilities. Work may include carpentry, welding and fabrication, plumbing, basic electrical, equipment and mechanical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and general construction. The position may also assist with project planning, developing material lists, coordinating work, and identifying practical solutions to maintenance and infrastructure challenges. While broad experience across multiple trades is preferred, we recognize that candidates may bring stronger experience in some areas than others.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-conscious problem solver who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. This position works closely with Facilities & Infrastructure staff, hatchery personnel, vendors, and contractors, and requires the ability to develop positive working relationships and a willingness to share knowledge and skills. On occasion, the position may also assist with fish culture activities or other operational needs.

The position is based in Ketchikan but requires regular travel to SSRAA hatcheries and remote sites throughout southern Southeast Alaska. Travel may be by vehicle, boat, or small aircraft, and work frequently occurs outdoors in remote locations and varying weather conditions. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain an Alaska Driver’s License and will be required to successfully complete a background check.

The wage range is $27.09–$36.74 per hour DOE, plus benefits. The positions are available for immediate hire and will remain open until filled. SSRAA is an equal opportunity employer.
